“Man no sooner begins to live, but he begins to die; and after a few days, which are but as a span, and pass away more swiftly than a weaver’s shuttle, sin lays all in the dust, princes as well as beggars.”

- The Sinfulness of Sin

Have we, humans, found ways to dignify the tragedies of our existence? In the reality of pain and its inevitable sources, have we unconsciously decorated the concepts of our finitude, of our pain, of the imminent oblivion and our undeniable fragility.  We are Dust, this simple statement have been in the human collective for ages, reminding us that our time is short and uncertain, that our life is a vapour which soon passes away, a general reminder that our brains often refuses to accept for our own selves.

Only when we are confronted to grief or any deep emotional pain, we genuinely understand that words, poems, songs, drawings, paintings, sculptures [...] are insufficient means to represent and  soothe our shattered souls. Nevertheless, there is a need in some of us to share our deep experiences through the process of creation. Not looking for others to understand, but looking for our own selves paths to survive.

Every single line traced on these charcoal drawings encloses sighs, tears, screams, questions, silences, numbness, anger, denial, nightmares, learnings, acceptation, and gratitude. I understood that I was not ready to face suffering, but I discovered through this first (and probably not the last) storm that a piece of paper and some dark dust (charcoal powder) could keep my mind “sane” for a couple of minutes, a couples of hours, and a couple of days during this inexorable 2024.What is the purpose of my art creation? I clearly do not know yet, but I believe it could be an open door to areas of the human condition that are commonly closed.

This is not the beginning of a story or the end of a statement; this is not the representation of a concept or the answer to a question; what you contemplate here is a fragment of time, a portion of an unknown quest, a malleable exploration. I invite you to embrace the beauty of the lines and the scars left on the skin, the strength in the eyes of familiar strangers, the illogical dreams of childhood, the imperfection of the body and the brokenness of the mind. I invite you to be part of this open inner world, either as a spectator or as another pilgrim.

A childish desire for capturing and preserving a particular instant in the unstoppable course of time has not only survived all these years, but it has become stronger and surprisingly more persistent despite the rationality that brings adulthood.

On the surface of the paper Spring is eternal, the skin is unalterable, the eyes are still open.

On the surface of the paper, time is slightly suspended, frozen, and the existence of those minutely depicted will continue to be contemplated, even after their depart.

On the surface of the paper, Mi Eterna Primavera Es Eterna.
